When my sister-in-law saw the T-shirt quilt I made for my husband she asked if I would be interested in making one for my brother. I didn’t have anything figured out for him for Christmas, so I said I could do it. Instead of T-shirts my sister-in-law brought me 8 sweatshirts. I had to use the fronts and the backs and made each block 15 inches by 18 inches instead of the 12 1/2 inch squares I made for my husband’s quilt.
Another difference in this quilt is that I put a bright yellow border around the whole quilt before I did the binding. Speaking of binding, I used my binding tutorial. I am glad I wrote that post because I might have forgotten what I did. I did purchase some 1/4 inch Steam-a-Seam to adhere the binding to the back of the quilt before I topstitched it.
This quilt is far from perfect, but hopefully my brother will like it. (Emily, don’t let him read this post, please.) My husband’s aunt said that one of the older ladies who taught her to quilt many years ago said, “A perfect quilt is an insult to God.” I don’t think He will be insulted at all with this one. :-)
I have put this quilt and my husband’s quilt in opposite corners of our storage room so that a fight doesn’t break out between these county rivals. ;-)
