I have another easy crochet pattern for you this week. Last week I shared my pattern for a Super Simple Scrubbie. Well, this week I am sharing a pattern for a Super Simple Sponge. If you know how to make a single crochet stitch and have some cotton yarn lying around, you should have no problem making one of these.
Once you have made a sponge you can use it to clean your dishes, counters, etc. It is double layered which makes it nice and thick. If you have any questions about the pattern please let me know. I am always happy to help.
If you choose to sell sponges made from this pattern you are free to do so. All I ask is a link back to this post or my blog in general. However, you must not sell this pattern or list it on your site. Thank you.
A Crochet Pattern by Jackie of Blessings Overflowing.
Materials to make a 4 inch x 5 inch sponge:
H hook
Cotton Worsted Weight Yarn
Blunt tip tapestry needle to weave in ends and stitch the sponge closed.
SC=Single Crochet
Row 1: SC in 2nd chain from hook and in the remaining 29 stitches of the beginning chain. Chain 1. Turn. (30 SC)
Row 2-21: SC in each stitch of previous row. Chain 1. Turn. (30 SC)
You should now have an (approximately) 8 inch x 5 inch rectangle like the one pictured above. Finish off and weave in ends.
Fold the rectangle in half so that it is approximately 4 inches x 5 inches. Take a piece of the yarn that is at approximately 2 yards long and thread it onto the needle. Using a whip stitch stitch the three open sides of the rectangle closed. Finish by weaving in the ends.
