Janna is officially a preschooler but she isn’t attending preschool outside of the home. This means that she and I are going to be having fun this year learning and making fun crafts.
Over the past 5 years I have posted many preschool crafts and activities and this year will be no exception. We are starting with the letter A and will work right through the alphabet during the course of this year.
Today I want to share some of the activities Janna and I completed this past week as well as links to some of my previous letter A posts.
One of Janna’s favorite activities is painting and she had a lot of fun painting with an apple.
I have used this apple painting trick for many years and it always works like a charm.
Simply insert a large popsicle stick into an apple that has been cut in half before giving it to your child. It can be used as a stamp or as a “paintbrush”. I highly recommend this method of painting with an apple.
Janna painted a piece of freezer paper, a letter A page for her alphabet binder, and a lowercase letter A that we turned into an apple.
Janna first traced the letter A and I was going to have her color it. However, she really wasn’t excited about coloring it so I let her paint it, too.
A construction paper leaf, stem, and seeds turned her painted lowercase letter A into an apple.
The idea for this activity was found at Totally Tots.
Janna also turned a capital letter A into an alligator.
I cut 3 rectangles out of green construction paper and have her glue it onto a paper so that they looked like a letter A on its side.
White paper triangles served as teeth and eyes (with wiggly eyes added on top).
I found the idea for this activity at No Time for Flashcards.
Janna enjoyed these crafts and the books we read to learn more about the letter A.
