We finally got some rain Sunday night for the first time in a long time. I think it really helped the garden; however, you can’t even tell it rained now. I think we only got about 1/4 inch of rain, but it was better than nothing. I don’t remember having it be so dry in May before.
I have been watering the garden and that, combined with the rain, is why it is growing so well. I am really pleased with it so far. I do think I am going to have to deal with a few weeds and pesky bugs soon, but that is nothing unusual. Thankfully, the birds seem to be leaving my tomato plants alone now.
The corn has shot up tremendously this week. It won’t be long until it will be taller than Janna. 🙂
Some of the tomato plants are starting to bloom. There’s nothing like a fresh tomato, or homemade salsa, spaghetti sauce…
I had to replant a lot of green bean seeds. I am hoping they come up this week. I guess I won’t have to worry about all of the beans coming on at once, but I do hope they produce plenty to preserve.
I think we are almost ready for some fresh lettuce salads. Yummy!
My hills of zucchini have doubled in size since last week.
My back garden spot is growing pretty well. This isn’t a good picture due to the sunlight and shade, but I happy with how things are looking in this spot, too.
I think it is about time to add dirt around my potato plants. Do you have experience with growing potatoes? I would love to hear from you.
Our grape vine is loaded with grapes. I am hoping for enough to make a batch of jelly or juice. This is the first year we might have some, if the birds don’t eat them all first.
How is your garden growing this week? Have you had to water your garden or are you getting plenty of rain?
