Our garden is still growing well, but with the hot, dry weather we are having I will need to start watering it this week. We have been fortunate so far that it has rained at just the right time, but I’m not sure we will get any rain this week.
I have picked lots of zucchini and cucumbers this week with hopefully many more to come.
My parents came over this evening and my mom helped me pick green beans and shuck corn. I picked about 6 dozen ears of corn and knocked down the plants in the first row I planted.
We were very disappointed to find that majority of the ears had some sort of worm in them. Thankfully, we were able to salvage most of the ears but had to cut off the tops. I have been planting sweet corn for 12 years and have never seen this kind of worm.
Last week I picked a gallon of green beans and got almost a bushel today. Green beans are our favorite vegetable so we hope there will be lots more in the coming weeks.
Our potato patch is still growing from what I can tell above ground. Hopefully, there are lots of potatoes under the ground.
On the far end of the potato patch my butternut squash plant is growing like crazy.
We still haven’t had our first red tomato, but there are lots of green ones. There is nothing like a garden fresh tomato.
How is your garden growing this week?
