Week 1 in Review

Week 1 of our 11 week journey towards a more organized life and home has come to a close. Did you join me in reading the Bible for 15 minutes each day?

I am happy to report that I reached my goal and it feels great to have spent time in God’s word. If 15 minutes sounds like a lot of time to spend reading the Bible let me put it into perspective for you.

If you read for 15 minutes each day that amounts to approximately 1% of your day. We surely can give God 1% of our time each day, right? I thought so. :)

Did you print out the checklist for the week? I enjoyed looking at my completed list tonight. I used the checklist to keep track of which chapters of the Bible I had read each day.

This week I started a reading plan which has both Old & New Testament assignments each day and I think it is really going to be enjoyable.

Do you think one week was enough time to make reading from the Bible a habit, if it wasn’t a habit already?

Join me tomorrow when I share what our new goal for the week will be.

Reading the Bible is something that I find to be very important. This one is already a habit for me for which I am thankful- having things as habits makes it so much easier. For me it helps me to get more Bible reading in by splitting it up throughout the day. I read during my morning devotions (Before breakfast – and if something gets screwed up there then I do it during our afternoon rest time), after Breakfast with the kids and then again after lunch with the kids. We also spend 5-30 minutes saying the scriptures that we are in the process of memorizing or are reviewing our memory on. It has been in the last couple of years that we have really upped our time spent in the scriptures and it has truly been a blessing!
The organizing habits I am working on currently have more to do with dealing with clutter, keeping surfaces cleaned and keeping up with dishes.

You inspire me, Abbi! I am not so good about getting the kids to memorize scripture, or even myself for that matter. It is something I need to work at.

I will be getting to those organizational habits in a couple of weeks. Trying to work on personal organization first. :)
