My Week in Pictures (5-19-12)

I hope you had a good week. We sure did. Today we went to a “gender party” which is something I had never heard of before. Basically, the idea is to gather with family and friends to find out whether the baby is a boy or girl.

My brother and sister-in-law had an ultrasound yesterday and asked the doctor to put the gender picture into an envelope. Then they took the envelope to the woman who was making the cakes. She was the only one who knew whether the baby was a boy or girl until this afternoon when my brother and his wife cut into the cake.

They are having a boy! My little nephew is set to arrive sometime at the end of October. After two little girls so close together, my niece and Janna, it will be fun to have a baby boy around again. :) (Emily & Jeff, I hope you don’t mind that I posted this picture.)

Sunday

On Sunday we hosted Mother’s Day lunch for my parents and my brother’s family. My brother snapped this picture of me and my girls.

Monday

The only picture I took on Monday was of a crochet project I am working on. I am behind on my monthly squares, but I am almost caught back up and will share about them this coming week.

Tuesday

This picture just melts my heart. Janna sure loves her daddy.

Wednesday

Yesterday, I shared about Julia’s new outfit and the fact that she was inducted into the Beta Club.

Thursday

Sometimes it is the most simple things that entertain my children. Putting lids into an empty box and pulling them out again kept Janna entertained for the longest time. My kids always love playing with boxes.

Friday

James tried to teach Joshua and Joseph how to do money origami, but it was a little hard for them. It is really cool though.

Saturday

I know I already shared a picture from today at the beginning of this post, but I couldn’t resist sharing another one. My brother and I were serving cake and drinks when my husband decided to use the rapid fire setting on our camera. We got a little silly while we were getting our picture taken.

I entertained my children when we got home by scrolling through the pictures and then going backwards so it looks like I am taking the piece of cake off of the plate. It’s the little things. I do love my brother and couldn’t ask for a better one. My mom says I did ask for another baby when Jeff quit letting me hold him. I am very thankful she didn’t send him back and get a new one. ;)

Did you do anything exciting this week?

That is such a cool idea! I’ve never heard of a gender announcement party. I think it’s cool that the only person to know was the cake decorator…
I personally don’t like knowing until the baby arrives; but if I had to be told before hand, I’d want the whole family there to celebrate- just like at the birth!

It was fun to find out with them. I did like knowing ahead of time with my babies. Only one didn’t cooperate so we didn’t know until he was born. :) Thanks for your comment.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time at the party.  In the last two months, my godson and his wife had a boy, and my oldest daughter has a boy.

Thanks, Debbie, and congratulations on the new baby boys in your life. :)
